Luis M. Marina, Jr. Scholarship Award Education Program

The Mohawk Valley Latino Association Announces the Scholarship Program for Latino students, female and male students in the Mohawk Valley. The Luis M. Marina, Jr. Scholarship Award program is a new educational initiative for the Mohawk Valley Latino Association, Inc.

The Luis Modesto Marina, Jr. Scholarship Award, program is intended to help members of the Mohawk Valley community move up the economic development ladder through education. Scholarship may be used for tuition for college/university or education language acquisition classes, college course books, technical/skill training, and literacy. For example, one family student may request assistance to attend college and another student may request assistance to attend English as a Second Language or GED courses.

ELIGIBILITY FOR SCHOLARSHIP:
  1. All applicants must be 17 or older.
  2. Applicant must be of Hispanic/Latino descend (at least one parent must be of Latino descend).
  3. Application must include educational providers for primary and secondary award recipients
  4. Scholarships will only be made to a nonprofit accredited higher education institutions and/or nonprofit training/educational providers in New York State. The accredited college/university may match the scholarship award.
  5. Recipients maybe eligible to receive scholarships in amounts from $50 to $1,000 per student.
  6. Recipients are determined in a selection process independently completed by the Mohawk Valley Latino Association along with a committee. Community individuals will be selected to serve on the scholarship committee to interview students and determine candidates.
  7. Applications for the scholarship are due July 30th.
  8. The student must be a high school/GED graduate from the school districts of Oneida or Herkimer counties.

  10. Applicant must write and submit an essay of 300 words, typed in double space on the topic below.
  11. Applicant must be a registered college student, need to show proof of acceptance.

La Asociación Latina del Valle del Mohwk anuncia el programa de becas para estudiantes Latinos, mujeres y hombres en el Valle del Mohawk. El programa de becas Luis M. Marina, Jr. es una nueva iniciativa educativa.

El programa de Becas Luis Modesto Marina, Jr. tiene como objetivo ayudar a los miembros de la comunidad en el Valle del Mohawk a ascender en la escala del desarrollo económico a través de la educación. La beca se puede utilizar para costes de matrícula de la universidad o para clases de adquisición de idiomas, libros para clases universitarias, capacitación técnica / de habilidades y la alfabetización. Por ejemplo, un estudiante puede solicitar asistencia para asistir a la universidad y otro estudiante puede solicitar ayuda para asistir a cursos de inglés como segundo idioma o de GED.

ELEGIBILIDAD PARA BECAS:
  1. Todos los solicitantes deben tener 17 años o más.
  2. El solicitante debe ser de ascendencia Hispana/Latina (al menos uno de los padres debe ser de descendencia Latina).
  3. La solicitud debe incluir proveedores educativos para los beneficiarios de premios primarios y secundarios.
  4. Las becas solo se otorgarán a instituciones de educación superior acreditadas sin fines de lucro y/o proveedores de capacitación/educación sin fines de lucro en el estado de Nueva York. La institución educativa o universidad acreditada puede igualar el premio de la beca.
  5. Los beneficiarios pueden ser elegibles para recibir becas en cantidades de $50 a $1,000 por estudiante.
  6. Los beneficiarios se determinan en un proceso de selección completado de forma independiente por la Asociación Latina del Valle del Mohawk junto con un comité. Se seleccionarán personas de la comunidad para formar parte del comité de becas para entrevistar a los estudiantes y determinar los candidatos.
  7. Las solicitudes para la beca deben presentarse el 30 de julio.
  8. El estudiante debe ser un graduado de la escuela secundaria/GED de los distritos escolares de los condados de Oneida o Herkimer.
  9. La participación se puede enviar por correo electrónico a [email protected]
  10. El solicitante debe escribir y enviar un ensayo de 300 palabras, escrito a doble espacio sobre el tema a continuación.
  11. El solicitante debe ser un estudiante universitario registrado y debe mostrar prueba de aceptación en la universidad.
