This children's cultural dance group and program was found in 2007, by MVLA. The association wanted to start an after school program for children enjoy themselves and grow.  The idea was to bring them together to participate not only in an after school program that assisted them with their school work or listen to adult speaches about proper behavior in school, it also presented form of art which allowed them to express themselves through cultural dance.

The children's age group to participate ranges from kindergaten through high school. All children with an interest to participate are given a 2-week trial.  If the child likes the program, an application is completed by the parent to allow he/she to further continue in dance. There is no fee to participate.  MVLA will provide cultural costumes.  Anything else needed is provided by parent (s). Transportation for dance events is provided on a need basis.

The goals are:

  • Through the youth, raise awareness of the Latino population.
  • Keep their cultural values and heritage lively and intact.
  • Keep the youth off the streets, especially after school hours.
  • Present their talents through dance performances at events, fairs, festivals, groups, etc.
  • Attend special musical shows, training, and/or plays.
  • Volunteer in other community groups or agencies.
  • Help keep good grades and attendance at school through after an school program providing help with homework, as needed.
