The 5th annual Upstate Latino Summit will include the participation of Latino community based organizations from Albany, Amsterdam, Rome-Utica, Syracuse, Rochester, and Buffalo. More than 200 people from these organizations came together for the first time in September 2007, to discuss their growing concerns and best practices when serving their communities. We will also be holding our Annual Gala fundraising event on the same date from 6:30 – 11:30 pm at Danielle's Valley View.
As you can imagine there is a tremendous amount of work that goes into an event of this size and MVLA relies solely on volunteers to make this happen.
We have been meeting monthly with our committee and could use volunteer's expertise in website design, database management as well as project management. Volunteers would attend monthly meetings and may be asked to assist with minute taking as well as sending meeting notices. The website needs to have conference information and registration capabilities as well as a link to the MVLA website. We need assistance with getting letters out to the community for sponsorship and panel speakers as well as follow up to those letters.
This will be a premier event for the Mohawk Valley and we would really appreciate any assistance your students can offer.
